DIVISION OF Business

Mission


The Department of Business prepares students for successful careers in private business, and industry, as well as in the public and not for profit sectors. As the problems of the business world have grown increasingly complex, multi-dimensional, and multicultural, the programs are structured to prepare students as business leaders with specialized education to understand and cope with contemporary business issues.


Vision


To develop positive interpersonal and leadership skills in Business Administration students.


STUDENTS IN THE DIVISION OF BUSINESS WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR MEMBERSHIP IN THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS AND PROGRAMS:


- Enactus Team (Formerly SIFE)
- National Association of Black Accountants (NABA)
- Phi Beta Lambda (PBL)
- Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM)
- Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA)
- Student organizations on the campus.


The Division of Business has membership with the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE).

The Livingstone College Division of Business offers the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in the following areas:

The main goals and objectives of the Business Administration program are as follows: To provide students with a broad perspective of the modern business organizations and their operations through sound management principles To offer a program of study designed to equip students with analytical tools based upon logic and critical thinking for decision-making To prepare students for responsible professional positions in various sectors of the economy To prepare students for graduate studies in businessn Business students are encouraged to become active members of at least one student organization such as Livingstone College Enactus Team, Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), International Economics Honor Society, and Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM).

In 2015 Fall semester 72 Freshman students declared Business Administration as their major. Of those students 12 students graduated in 2018-19 (after 4 years) which is 17% on time graduation. Total Business graduated in 2018-19 were 29. Two students started on Fall 2014, and remaining 15 students changed their major to business during their tenure in Livingstone College.

The Division of Business at Livingstone College has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) located at 11374 Strang Line Road in Lenexa, Kansas, USA. For a list of accredited programs

The Division also offers the Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Culinary Arts and certificate programs in Culinary Arts, Event Planning, and Lodging Operations.

Minor programs are designed for non-business majors with an interest in Business Administration, or Computer Information Systems.
